Sad to say goodbye
Posted on April 11 2024
Today, Alessio attended his last appointment at Alder Hey Hospital as the one year transitioning process to adults services have been successfully completed. An emotional day as he spent nearly 19 years there since he was transferred from Whiston Hospital.
What a journey in terms of his health from being told that he would never lived passed one year of age to him looking forward to celebrate his 21st birthday in a few months. What a miracle!
Basically from no hope to a bright future full of possibilities . However I couldn't do this without the help from our dedicated and amazing NHS, GP services and community services such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Paediatric consultants etc.
Therefore from the bottom of my heart, thank you and that we are so lucky to have such a fantastic service free at the point of treatment. If our NHS has been privatised, there is no way that I can afford to pay for Alessio weekly injection of the Anti-tumour necrosis factor treatment at £1500 each. I am so very grateful for our wonderful NHS as we can surely can't do without it. Thank you NHS!!!
