Happy 21st birthday to my world

Today 21 years ago, l looked forward to meeting my young man but he didn't make any noise after he was delivered and all l heard was lots of panicking sounds, as the medical staff frantically tried to get him to breathe. Soon l heard more panic as someone shouted that l lost too much blood and quickly l went to a semi conscious state, also l became delirious. All l could remember was that l kept shouting where my glasses were? Two days later, l finally woke up in the ward and couldn't move. I panicked as l couldn't find Alessio because he was in a neonatal intensive care unit.

That was 21 years ago, l fought hard to keep Alessio alive and stay well, despite his consultant telling me he will never live past one year of age!!! I didn't care what he said to me because l knew Alessio is a fighter and l am not a quitter either.

It has been one hell of a journey to get to today like he kept stopping to breath for quite a few years, especially during asleep as he had the most dangerous form of seizure - nocturnal seizure. Therefore l had little sleep as l had to watch over him when he was asleep. However l managed to cure all his 5 forms of incurable seizures with diets, supplements and a healthy lifestyle. I also cured his hypoglycemia attacks which to this day, no one knew why it happened! Alessio has many health problems, too many to mention here and that's why he is known as having complex medical needs. Not forgetting his complex educational needs with severe Autism, Learning, Communication and Sensory processing difficulties. An educational psychologist told me Alessio won't progress any further functioning at around 1.5 years of age. Look, he can have a basic conversation, reading and typing quite well functioning around 7-8 years.

Here we are celebrating Alessio's 21st birthday today, quietly in our holiday home as we have done for many years, then a massive party in his favourite restaurant, Chung Ku on 14-9-24.

Never give up on your children because you, only you - the parents can change their destiny, so fight for your children no matter what!!!
