Theatre Alla Scala

Yesterday, it was 20 degrees so it was hot hot hot!

My sister in law got us some free tickets to watch the final rehearsal of La Rondine (The Swallow) before the official performance this weekend in the one and only Theatre Alla Scala. Again we were very fortunate to have a box as this was a sell out opera weeks ago. Our box was not too far from the Royal box. We were locked in for security reasons. This is because many well known people and royals come to this theatre. All boxes are locked from outside by our personal attendant and let out for a short time during the interval.

La Rondine is about a mistress of a wealthy man in Paris looking for love as advised by a palm reader. Very interesting opera by Giacomo Puccini.

On route to the theatre, we passed through Milan Cathedral, The Galleria and Leonardo Di Vinci museum so we stopped by to take some photos.

What a lovely end to a brief holiday in Italy to visit family! Today, another family gathering and a bit of last minute shopping before we leave for home tomorrow morning.
