My Angel
Posted on October 12 2025
As I mentioned previously I have not been well since last December due to this super bug in my lungs and I am on my third course of antibiotics, so hopefully this bug will be gone for good.
During this period, my young man has grown up mentally and physically massively. My angel
1. put away the clean dishes, cutlery and pots from the dishwasher, as soon as he put down his bags after returning home from the Day Centre.
2. wash dishes and cutlery that are not too dirty by hands. However, he wants to do more but I said I need time to teach him.
3. change into his pajamas and tidy his own bed and then my bed, also bring anything I need downstairs like charger and jacket in case I am cold. He has been doing it for years.
4. wash again anything he can before sitting down for dinner.
5. clear the table after eating.
6. for the first time loaded the dishes, cutlery and pots into the dishwasher with some guidance last night. This is not just a major achievement for him but it's a miracle because no one ever thought he is capable to do such a task. Alessio has poor eye-hand co-ordination and concentration since he was a baby, therefore he is unable to do any fine motor tasks. I spent years beading with Alessio just to improve his eye-hand co-ordination.
7. bring my slippers when I arrive home.
8. pull out the chair for me, put on the telly and then says: "Mummy, have a nice cup of tea and chill out." I have started teaching him to make English tea, as he is ok with Chinese tea.
9. advise me to go for a nap if I am not feeling well after lunch. Then he would switch off everything and stay in the kitchen quietly, so not to disturb me.
10. put a blanket over his uncle when he fell asleep on the sofa.
11. ask me to sit on the sofa, put my feet up, put a blanket over me,, pass me my phone and drink after dinner. This is because he knows I work hard so he wants me to chill out a bit.
12. play bingo in the Day Centre and often win. I was shocked to learn that he can play bingo and win prizes. I couldn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes that he is able to match the numbers. The last prize was a gift set which he chose especially for me
13. ask me to teach him how to iron and vacuum despite being hypersensitive to noise.
I am so blessed with such a beautiful angel that I called my son. Despite his severe Learning difficulties and Autism, he is contributing so much to this world because everyone who has contact with him find him inspiring!
