A very emotional morning as l attended the last assembly in this outstanding private school for Autistic children where Alessio studied for the past 10 years!!!
Our Local Authority has been wonderfully supportive and funded this additional year at my request because he should have left last year.
Look, he achieved many qualifications by AQA, examination board for children with learning disabilities such as basic computer skills, Basic gardening skills, Word processing and Sending an email etc. He also achieved Functional Maths and Preparing simple meals which many people can't do nowadays.
A new chapter for my young man as he will be attending college this September and also an alternative day service for young people with additional needs.
Never never give up on your child no matter what professionals said because s/he can grow without limits, as long as you support him/her to achieve. Sky's the limit!!
My advice to all parents and carers with additional needs children, ALWAYS work together with professionals to provide better services for your children. Respect them and they will respect you. l am talking from experience, as l have worked with many for nearly 20 years.
