Lake Como
Posted on April 18 2025

Finally good weather, so off we went to Lake Como for the day taking the Swiss train at Milan Central. Gosh it's as busy as in London Euston. The train is so full that we can't move about, hundreds of people, possibly well over 500 and with most heading for Lake Como. On arrival, thousands of people rushed to get out of the train station. Obviously a very popular destination for local people and tourists!
.
Anyway our first stop is the square where Alexandro Volta statute is located, the famous inventor of the electric batteries. Then we went straight to the Lake and the queue for the ferry is more than a mile long, so we decided to give it a miss.
.
A sunny day, around 2O-21 degrees, so great to be by the lake. We walked all around the lake and the pier too. Very scenic and peaceful.
.
On the way back, we stopped for afternoon tea and then joined in with the local people shopping in a huge market and bought a pair of sunglasses.
.
We head for the train station after shopping, as we are totally exhausted.
.
Alessio loves riding on the double decker train to come home from Milan Central.
.
A very enjoyable day at Lake Como!
