For most people, bingo is just a simple game. But for Alessio, who has severe autism and learning difficulties, listening to numbers, concentrating and matching them on a bingo card is an enormous challenge.
I never thought he could manage it!
Last year, he came home from his Day Centre with a beautiful pink gift box.
I was worried he'd taken it home by mistake because he couldn't explain where it came from due to his limited speech! 😅
So I asked the staff.
To my amazement, he'd WON it playing bingo and had chosen the gift especially for ME! ❤️
With patience, encouragement and support from the wonderful staff, Alessio had learnt to play bingo!
Not only that, he's become so good at it that he wins prizes almost every week!
Just look at his latest winnings! 🏆
But the greatest prize isn't what he brings home. It's what he's achieved.
Sometimes we underestimate what someone with disabilities can achieve, simply because we assume something is too difficult for them.
Alessio has proved once again that with belief, patience and the right support, so much more is possible than we imagine.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to the wonderful Day Centre staff for believing in him. ❤️
Never underestimate someone's potential. They might just surprise you! ❤️
