Happy Birthday My Sweetheart

We had an absolutely amazing day celebrating my young man's 22nd birthday at his favourite restaurant.

He's so happy, confident and full of smiles!!! This has not always been the case at his birthday parties. I still remember vividly the days when he locked himself in his room and only came down to blow out the candles and ran back upstairs. More importantly l had to ask all guests to sing QUIETLY as Alessio is hypersensitive to noise and he still is, that's why he wears ear defenders to filter out excess noise.

This time, he's full of smiles to see his birthday cake and couldn't wait for people to sing happy birthday to him. What an achievement!!! He's growing and developing bit by bit into a confident, sociable and caring soul.

This past year, my health has not been good with this super bug in my lungs and Alessio has taken on a caring role - really looking after me well such as tidying my bed, washing some dishes, sorting out clothes for washing and moreover he wants to learn to vacuum and iron clothes. He has always tidied his own bedroom. He even advised me to have a rest on the sofa and put a blanket over me. He never complains when dinner is at 9.30pm because l have lots of work to do or resting after a long day.

I am so blessed to have such a caring son and also immensely proud of him for taking responsibility for house chores on his own initiative despite having so many health problems, ASD and Learning difficulties. He is just like me, never letting anything stop him from achieving, caring and having a fulfilling life despite all the difficulties!!!
