It's a hot sunny day, so off we went to our local beach, the one where cars can park on the beach.
Alessio had a fantastic time riding on Golden swan for almost an hour but was exhausting for me, as l controlled Golden swan and walked horizontally against the waves. This way we won't get too deep into the sea.
Afterwards, we went looking for fish, crabs and shrimps in the rock pools. I watched him having lots of fun and enjoying life! I felt an immense joy and tears in my eyes because he has come such a long way in life!!!
According to his consultant, Alessio won't live past one year of age as he was so ill and no one knew what was wrong with him.
His educational psychologist advised me that Alessio would be functioning around 1.5-2 years of age, basically like a baby and won't be speaking. He has other problems too like severe hypotonia where he doesn't have muscle tones or the coordination to crawl, stand up, walk or run. They called him the "floppy baby". I spent years building his muscles bit by bit and together with special footwear and chair, Alessio is walking but can't run or jump and not in a wheelchair as predicted !
With bespoke support in a specialist independent school for children with Autism, Alessio achieved a reading age of an 8 year old and can have a basic conversation but obviously his understanding is not like the average young person, as he has severe Learning Difficulties.
Wow time flies, my young man is almost 23 as he keeps reminding me to organise his birthday party. l felt so very proud of him as he has gone through so many traumatic experiences in life and yet he's still smiling 😁 😁 😁 and enjoying life to the fullest. Love you to the moon and back, as you sure are a miracle!!!
